One Month Old

This just may have been the fastest month in history. It's hard to believe that Zoe is one month old today. Here is her first official Pooh Bear picture. It's amazing how tiny she still is. Yesterday she weighed in at 6 lbs. 14 oz. She is between 19 and 20 inches.

The Whole Family

Last Sunday we all went up to Mt. Lemmon for a picnic and a reprieve from the 107 degree Tucson temperature. While we were there we got our first family picture taken with all four of us!

Family Time

Most of our time is spent just hanging out as a family, telling stories, watching the girls and trying to stay awake. Here are a few of my favorite pics from yesterday. The picture of Sophie was taken at her friend Shea's house. Yes - her shirt says spoiled, and yes - her daddy bought it for her. The pictures with Zoe are some of the first where her eyes are opened and not crossed. Well, when we were done snapping the pics her eyes were crossed, but at least we got some good shots of her first.

My Little Sister

My little sister Zoe is starting to change! She stays awake a lot more and that's fun for me. Mommy put out the activity mat so Zoe could have some tummy time. Zoe thought mommy said nap time, so I got down on the mat and showed her just what to do. I shook the giraffe and showed her the mirror. Then I bent over and gave her a little hug to tell her she was doing such a good job. I love my baby sister!

Happy Father's Day

Once again we had the pleasure of getting to spend Father's Day with Andy and Clark. Both daddies got to sleep in while Sophie, Grandma Ann and I baked and decorated cookies. Sophie mostly ate cookie dough as fast as she could. She was so fast I couldn't even get it out of her hand before it was in her mouth! Later in the day we all went out for lunch and then took a drive up to see the new house. The foundation was poured last week and now we're just waiting for it to be inspected so they can start framing. We are hoping to be in by Christmas!

Room For Two

We have been learning how to make room for two in our hearts, and Grandma Ann has been learning how to make room for two on her lap! Sophie has been very good about sharing the attention, but she thinks it's fun to snuggle up with her little sister sometimes. Zoe has been staying awake more, so we actually were able to snap a couple of shots with her eyes open (although they still cross on occasion). She's still pretty tiny - a whopping 6 pounds 6 ounces as of yesterday, but she's now 19 1/4 inches long.

Hand Me Downs

Here you can see Zoe enjoying some time in her swing, which we borrowed from my friend April, whose daughter Bella (now 17 months) no longer uses it. Under the blanket Zoe is wearing a onesie that says, "Daddy does my hair," which was a present from her big cousin Lauren, who has already outgrown much of her clothing. You can read more about Lauren at http://www.jacemouse.com/personal/family/blog/

Double Stroller

Now that our family has grown, we had to buy a bigger stroller. A couple of months ago I started researching and test driving double strollers. We had to find one that was comfortable for both Andy and me to steer - not an easy task. We needed handles that were tall enough for Andy and the bar on the bottom had to be situated so that Andy didn't kick it while walking. After much debate, we settled on the Graco Quattro Tour Duo Stroller. It's a little on the heavy side, but it is so easy to maneuver. Grandma Ann and I took the girls for a short ride down the street the other day. They both seemed to enjoy the short trip, and we would have gone farther except it was toooooo hot!

New things for Sophie

Sophie has been enjoying eating watermelon. She likes to take a piece and squeeze it is as hard as she can, getting all of the juice out of it. Then she eats the mushed up pieces. It's cute to watch her try to keep the juice in her mouth. Sophie also got a new present today. She now has her very own arm chair. She was thrilled when mommy and Zoe brought it home and immediately climbed in it and started kicking her feet. It's the perfect place for Sophie to relax with one of her books.

Zoe at Home

It sure is hard to find time to update the blog. Sophie has been sick with her first ear infection, so she has required a lot of attention lately. Zoe loves to eat (unlike her big sister) so she can usually be found plugged into mommy. Grandma Ann has been a huge help to us, and she even managed to entertain both girls by herself for a little bit! Zoe loves to sleep in her peanut shell - while mommy wears it and even just in her moses basket. She also got to have a little sunbath today to help her jaundice pass. We go back to the doctor tomorrow for another weight check. Yesterday she weighed all of 6 pounds 1 ounce. She's a little itty bitty thing, but she's got lots of personality!
