Friends

Sophie and Zoe have lots of friends from play groups, but we especially love to play with Donovan and Quentin. They are 13 months apart, so Angie (their mom) and I have relied on each other for support a lot this past year. Today the boys came over to play and Angie and I got some time to chat and marvel at how quickly our babies are growing up. It was very challenging to get a picture of the four kiddos, but this one will do.

Watch out - she's on the move!

Pump it Up!

Yesterday I took the girls to Pump it Up - an inflatable party zone that makes kids go crazy! The last time we went Sophie was scared to go down the slide by herself. This time she marched right up the stairs and went flying down the slide, about 50 times. She had sweat dripping from her hair by the time we left, and as you can imagine she took an extra long nap!

Father's Day

Father's day was pretty low key this year, but we did want to take some time to acknowledge the best daddy ever! We spent the day just hanging out at home. Andy got to sleep in, and when he woke up Sophie greeted him by saying, "Happy Birthday Father's Day Daddy!" After the girls' naps, we headed over to Laura's for dinner. It also happened to be Gigi's birthday, so there was lots of celebrating. For us girls, the best thing about Father's Day was getting to spend it with Andy!

Summer Days

Consider this a catch up post! It's officially summer in Tucson even though the calendar says it won't be summer for a few more weeks. Since it's so hot, the girls have been spending a lot of time playing in their pool and with their new water and sand table that Grandma Laura and Papa Chuck got for them. We haven't bought the sand yet, so we filled both sides with water. Sophie also got some new paints and brushes with some of her birthday money, and Zoe got some new markers that are designed for babies. They are so cute. Each marker has a different animal, and when you replace the cap it makes the animal's sound! I also included the pictures of the girls after eating their birthday cake. Those pics don't need much explaining!

12 Months Old

Our baby is a whole year old! On the day of her actual birthday we had our playgroup over to celebrate all of the May birthdays. Since we accounted for half of those birthdays, we thought we should host. The girls had a lot of fun having all of their friends here. The next day they both went to the doctor for their check ups. We saw a new pediatrician, and I think both girls liked him a lot. He said the girls are doing great, and that mom is doing a really great job too! The official numbers for both girls are: Sophie is 31 1/2 lbs (90%) and 35 1/2 in. (50%). Zoe is 22 1/2 lbs (50%) and 30 in. (75%). I was a little worried that Sophie was heavy for her age, but the doctor said that was normal and that her growth will slow now and she'll become more slim. At 2 years they also recommend switching to skim milk, and of course Zoe has been on whole milk for a few weeks now. That's 6 gallons of milk per week we'll be buying (thanks to Andy's love of milk too!) Developmentally, Zoe is really blossoming. She babbles constantly and has begun a lot of pretend play. It's especially cute to watch her rock her baby dolls. Her receptive language has grown a lot too and she can now follow a set of directions such as pick up the marker and put it on the table. She isn't walking independently yet, but she loves to use her push/pull toys to get around the house. She won't have another Pooh Bear picture until she's 15 months, so take a good look at this one!!
