Two Months Old

Zoe is two months old today! There's not a whole lot to report since she doesn't go for her two month check up until Tuesday. Last Thursday she weighed 9 pounds, but I have no idea how long she is. She has been changing though. She smiles a lot now and says "ah goo." She also holds up her head pretty well, but when I put her on her tummy for tummy time she usually just falls asleep. Oh well. If someone put me on my tummy I'd probably fall asleep too. Actually, at this point I could probably sleep standing up!

New Tricks

Both girls have new tricks to show off. Zoe now smiles on a regular basis, although mommy is usually not quick enough with the camera. Sophie has learned to take off her diaper, so now we have to be careful and watch her closely if she's not wearing pants. Life is grand:)

Grammy Harriet Visits

Last week Grammy Harriet arrived all the way from Pennsylvania to visit the girls. We've all been keeping pretty busy. On Friday Zoe was named in the temple. Both girls got dressed up, and we all went out for dinner after the service. Zoe's Hebrew name is Chava Danielle. Chava means life (and Zoe means life) and Danielle means God is my judge. Both Zoe and Sophie were very well behaved at the service and at dinner. We also took Grammy to see our new house, and we've been spending a lot of time inside and out of the heat and rain! We will be sure to find more fun activities to do this week before Grammy heads back east on Thursday.

Walking and Talking

Sophie has been busy practicing her new skills! Walking is her primary mode of transportation now, although occasionally we find her crawling still. She is also talking up a storm! Most of her talking is a constant chatter of nonsense words, but she clearly thinks she's talking like everyone else. Her favorite word now is "up", but she says it to mean "pick me up" and also to mean "put me down." We're trying to teach her to say "water" since we have to drink a lot in the desert, but for some reason she hasn't quite picked that one up yet. Soon enough she'll be talking my ear off, and I'll be grateful for some 2-way conversation during the day!

Ready for Class

Sophie got a new backpack yesterday. Tomorrow she will get to take it to mommy's class. It's filled with books and toys (without batteries) and in the morning I will put snacks in it. Here are pictures of Sophie trying out her new pack. It's a little heavy for her, so she'll have to roll it behind her (it has a pull-out bar and wheels). Hopefully the goodies inside will keep her entertained for most of the 90 minutes!

Getting Bigger

Yesterday Zoe went to the doctor again. This time she weighed 7 lbs 11 oz. Everyone was thrilled! Someday she will get to wear more than just her newborn onesies!

Happy 4th!

Fourth of July was pretty quiet here in Tucson. Andy and Clark went on a boys only trip : 29 miles up the back of a mountain, on a dirt road, and resulting in only one flat tire. The girls stayed home in the nice cool air conditioning and out of the 112 degree heat. We amused ourselves by taking pictures of Sophie and Zoe. The younger sister hasn't had much practice with these extended photo shoots. The big sister assured her that she would get used to it soon enough. Then we baked a cake because cake makes everything all better. Happy 4th to all our friends and family. God bless America!
