Daddy does Bath Time

After our trip to Mount Lemmon today, I was too tired to do much more than fix dinner, so I asked Andy if he would mind doing the girls' baths. Sidenote - Andy does NOT do bathtime, for a variety of reasons, mostly being that he isn't home by bathtime and his 6'7" body has a hard time getting down on the floor and bending over a tub. So Andy's response? "I'll just hose them off out back." And so he did. I helped rub the soap on the them while Andy hosed them down. Thanks to the months of triple digit temperatures in Tucson, the hose water is as warm as bath water, and the girls loved it. Daddies definitely have a way of making the most mundane tasks fun and exciting:)

Rose Canyon Lake

Today we escaped the relentless Tucson heat and headed up to Mount Lemmon. We explored a new area: Rose Canyon Lake. We didn't know what to expect what but were pleased to find that just a short walk on a trail got us to a pretty little lake. I'm pretty sure we were the only visitors not fishing, but the girls enjoyed trying to catch the little minnows and tadpoles in the lake with their hands. We had a picnic lunch, and the girls also tried a little bit of hiking/climbing, although none of us were wearing the right shoes for anything serious. Overall it was a fun day, and we're thinking about planning another trip soon, only this time we'll bring the tents and spend the night!

First Day of School

Both girls started school today! Sophie was excited to see her friends, and Zoe was excited to make new ones. Sophie's class is called the Busy Bears, and this year she only has one teacher - Mrs. Kathy. Zoe is in the same room that Sophie had last year, but she has different teachers - Mrs. Ashley and Miss Rachel. I was a little worried that Zoe might cry once she realized I was leaving, but she was so busy working on a puzzle that she barely looked up to give me a kiss good-bye! I can't wait to hear how their days went!

Our San Diego House

On this trip, we rented the same house where we stayed over Thanksgiving. The girls were really cute about it and kept asking if this was our San Diego house. Zoe referred to her San Diego room and her San Diego bed. The house is great with 3 bedrooms and a huge backyard. We spent most of our time out and about, but it's so much nicer to come back to a home at the end of the day instead of a hotel room.

Day in La Jolla

During our trip, we spent one day visiting La Jolla, which is one town north of Pacific Beach. We went to the Birch Aquarium, where the girls enjoyed seeing all the fish and touching the creatures in the tide pools. After that, we headed into the town and had lunch. I restrained myself from going into any of the fabulous shops, and instead settled for some interesting people watching, including a man with a pink poodle!
